Рассматривается современная цивилизация в ракурсе «больших смыслов» её состояния и перспектив. Подобные смыслы как-то незаметно отодвигаются в тень инструментальным могуществом цивилизации совместно с растущими возможностями и претензиями человечества. То, что для подавляющей части социума стало, по сути, безальтернативным и считается прогрессивным, автор предлагает оценивать с позиций иного миропонимания. Такое миропонимание, включающее в себя фундаментальную онтологию М. Хайдеггера, постнеклассическую науку и синергетику, позволяет многие вещи, ставшие привычными и удобными, увидеть в другой оптике. Зачастую это вещи драматические, где человеку отведено играть роль, всё более уводящую его от собственного органичного предназначения.  The modern civilization in the foreshortening of «big senses» of its state and prospects is considered. Such senses are quietly moved aside by the instrumental power of the civilization, along with the increasing opportunities and demands of the mankind. The author suggests some other world outlook in evaluating what has actually become a single option and seems to be progressive for the majority of the socium. Such world outlook including fundamental ontology of M. Heidegger, postnonclassical science and synergetics allows seeing things that have become customary and convenient in other optics.
