Глэмпинг (англ. glamorous camping — “гламурный кемпинг”) modern format of tourism, which combines unity with the wild nature and a high level of comfort. Unlike traditional camping, where tourists set up tents themselves and give up most of the amenities of civilization, glamping offers accommodation in well-equipped structures with all the conveniences. This direction was formed in the early 2000s as a response to the demand of urban residents who are striving for a natural atmosphere but are not ready to give up their usual comfort.
The key idea of glamping is to create harmony between the authenticity of the surrounding environment and the luxury of service. Travelers have the opportunity to enjoy the landscapes, sounds of the forest, or the view of the starry sky without giving up quality food, a comfortable bed, and modern sanitary solutions. The main target audience consists of wealthy professionals aged 30–50, families with children, and romantic couples who value time and unique experiences. For them, glamping becomes a way to recharge without the stress associated with organizing a classic hike.
Glamping locations are characterized by a variety of architectural solutions that organically fit into the landscape. The most common types of accommodation are:
Geodesic domes — spherical structures with panoramic windows, allowing you to observe nature from inside;
Safari tents — spacious tents with wooden floors, full furniture, and a separate area for rest;
Tree houses — multi-level structures in forest areas;
Eco-cubes — glass modules creating the effect of complete immersion in the surrounding environment.
Each living space is equipped with a bed with an orthopedic mattress, heating or air conditioning, a mini-bar, and a private bathroom with a shower and designer cosmetics. At the same time, the preservation of the ecological balance remains a priority — many facilities use solar panels, rainwater collection systems, and biodegradable materials.
The high level of service distinguishes glamping from alternative formats of nature-based leisure. Restaurants with local cuisine usually operate on the territory, where chefs prepare dishes from farm products. Guests can order food in their room or organize a romantic dinner on a private terrace. The entertainment program includes yoga at dawn, spa procedures with natural cosmetics, guided tours, and workshops on crafts. In the evening, outdoor movie screenings and bonfire tastings are organized. This approach allows combining relaxation with cultural enrichment.
Glamping has become a promising niche in the hospitality industry, demonstrating stable growth even during periods of economic instability. The high cost of accommodation (from 200 to 1000 dollars per night) is offset by the exclusivity of the experience and personalized service. From an ecological point of view, this format promotes the development of “soft” tourism — infrastructure is created with minimal interference in the landscape, and owners often allocate part of the profits to the preservation of local ecosystems. In this way, glamping transforms the perception of nature-based leisure, offering a modern symbiosis of luxury and environmental awareness.
