MYTH-MAKING
In the Bolsherechensky district of the Omsk region, there was a Tatar village called Molodtsovo, which was formed at the earliest, at the end of the 19th century. Next to it was the Tatar village of Cheplyarovo, to which the inhabitants of Molodtsovo moved during the consolidation period. I must say that Russian names for Tatar villages are not typical, why the Tatar village was named Molodtsovo is unknown. Next to Cheplyarovo, archaeologists dug and ran into the village to sneak up. In order not to be bored, during one of the gatherings, they sold the locals the legend of how the village of Molodtsovo originated. The legend of archaeologists was composed as follows: during the Russo-Turkish war, during the capture of Izmail, the "Tatar" regiment especially distinguished itself, which was the first to storm the walls of this impregnable fortress.: "Well done, well done!". After the death of Catherine II and the rise to power of Paul I, of course, all those who served the Empress faithfully were exiled to Siberia. The "Tatar" regiment loyal to Catherine also went through the stage. These heroic "Tatars" settled near Cheplyarovo and named their village Molodtsovo in honor of Suvorov's praise. Game, of course, is rare. It is also excusable for the Cheplyarovsky aborigines that this nonsense was digested. But a couple of years later, an ethnographic expedition of Omsk State University came to Cheplyarovo, and one of its leaders (Candidate of Historical Sciences, by the way), recorded this legend from the locals, and with burning eyes, under the impression of the unique properties of the historical memory of the people, began to spread this version among the scientific community. It's good that they stopped it in time for publication.
ABOUT CHOOSING THE RIGHT INFORMANT
The expedition to Baraba took place in the winter. After sending the team home after the expedition, its leader, let's call him A. G., decided to stop by the Novosibirsk Museum of Local Lore, on business, of course. The monument to Pokryshkin served as a landmark for him. Having reached the necessary stop, A. G. got off the bus and did not find the monument. As a true ethnographer, he decided to interview the aborigines. He approached the choice of informant with his usual thoroughness - he turned to a young, very beautiful woman dressed in a smart fur coat. An important detail should be noted: the hero himself was dressed for the expedition. His wife had dressed him up in the tsigeik fur coat that A. G. had worn when he was still at school. Since the fur coat on his stomach did not fit together, he belted a soldier's belt around his waist. On the head-earflaps from cheburashka. The outfit was complemented by felt boots two sizes smaller than required, worn on the wrong leg. Since our hero did not know that felt boots were trampled on his leg, he walked on tiptoe. Plus a week's worth of stubble. And in this form, A. G. turned to the "reasonably chosen informant" with the words: "Please tell me, where is there a monument to the three-time Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Ivanovich Pokryshkin? The woman, having measured him with a skeptical look from head to boots, answered: "If you need a grocery store, it's around the corner to the left, only vodka is sold from 11 o'clock."
